Charles H. Maret Jr., lovingly known as Chuck, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2026, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born on June 24, 1958, in Syracuse.
Chuck was a graduate of Central Square and spent several years working at OCRA as a heavy machine operator. He was a man who enjoyed working with his hands, especially through woodworking, and he loved taking trips to the lake. Some of the happiest times shared with those he loved were spent kayaking and camping with his family. He was also an avid fan of the Jets and Syracuse University, following his teams with enthusiasm.
More than anything, Chuck will be remembered for the joy he brought to others. He was a jokester by nature, always making people laugh with his humor. His presence brightened gatherings, and his easy way of bringing a smile to someone’s face will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Chuck is survived by his longtime partner, Pamela Stumpff. He also leaves behind his children, Charles Maret III (Heather), Curtis Maret, Catherine Maret, and Craig Maret (Ashley). He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Jacob, Joey, Emma, Curtis, Jr., Maddison, Konner, and Bell.
He is also survived by his sisters, Cheryl (Peter) Smokaluk, Debra Riley, Mary Marrone, and Pamela Maret (Charles Pardee III); his brothers, Robert Maret (Cindy), Patrick Maret, and Michael Maret (Shelley); along with many relatives and friends who will cherish his memory and carry his laughter with them always.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on November 12, 2026, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N Main St, Syracuse, NY
Chuck’s memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughter he inspired, and the family moments he treasured so deeply. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
