Charles “Chick” N. Sherman, 93, of Liverpool, NY, passed away peacefully at home on November 4, 2025. He was born in Watertown, NY, on November 3,1932 to the late Nathaniel and Virginia Sherman and spent many joyous years growing up at Pine Hill Farm in Champion, NY.
Chick attended Cornell University where he was a member of the Air Force ROTC. He obtained his bachelor's degree in business in 1954. He honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1963, including service during the Korean War. Chick retired from the Parker Hannifin Corporation in Cleveland, OH, after 32 years in field sales and management.
In his free time, Chick enjoyed fishing, especially fly fishing, and he shared this love with his children and grandchildren. Fishing excursions were frequently aboard the old wooden skiff his parents had built in 1928 by renowned Adirondack boat builder Birt Tyler. Chick was an avid reader of historical works and enjoyed following his family’s genealogy. In his younger years, he and his wife enjoyed bowling and were members of various leagues. Throughout his life, Chick enjoyed gardening and growing his own vegetables. More recently, his connection to nature was through avidly observing birds and wildlife from his home.
Chick was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years Alice A. Sherman, who passed earlier this year; his son Jeffrey Charles Sherman; his sister, Cynthia Hamlet and brother-in-law, Stan Hamlet; as well as brother-in-law Edward Knapp.
Chick is survived by his son Michael (Wendy) Sherman; two daughters, Deborah (Steve) Lough and Rebecca (Jeff) Stepanik; his sister Carol Knapp; a brother-in-law, Jim Bezner and his wife, Joyce; five nieces and three nephews; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Per Chick’s request, there will be no services.
