Chris G. Smith, (62), affectionately known to many as “Smitty,” passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, at Syracuse Homes in Baldwinsville after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 14, 1963, in Syracuse, NY, Chris’s life was a testament to dedication, love, and an infectious zest for life.

Chris was born in Syracuse and graduated from Phoenix High School, laying the foundation for a life filled with hard work and laughter. He devoted many years of his career as a forklift mechanic at MHP and also worked at Frasier & Jones, earning respect through his skill and commitment before his well-deserved retirement.

Known for his jokester personality and outgoing spirit, Chris delighted those around him with humor and a love of the outdoors. Whether he was fishing, hunting, or meticulously working on car models, his enthusiasm for nature and hands-on hobbies was truly inspiring. He found joy in life's simple pleasures and shared that joy generously with family and friends.

Chris held deep and unwavering dedication to his loved ones. His longtime significant other, Tina Moreth, was the center of his world, alongside his beloved daughter, Stacey Fay (Matt Fay), and his step-daughter, Shannon Moreth. His heart extended warmly to his eight grandchildren—Christopher, Breanna, Shania, Hayley, Alyssa, Dakota, Kaylee, and Chase—who brought him immense pride and happiness. Family bonds were integral to Chris’s life, including his mother, Donna Livingston, his stepmother, Shirley Taber, and his siblings, Kim Smith, Linda Smart, and Pam Garcia, his brother-in-law Bob Morrow, his dogs, Dolly & Chico, along with many nieces and nephews who cherished countless memories with “Smitty.”

One of Chris’s proudest accomplishments was locating his biological family after many years, reconnecting with a past that enriched his sense of belonging. He was predeceased by his biological father, Sonny Taber, his adoptive parents, Robert and Evelyn Smith, and two sisters, Sandy and Laurie, his brother-in-law Ed Smart, whose memories continue to live on in his heart.

Chris’s legacy is one of warmth, perseverance, and unshakeable love—a man who faced life’s challenges with humor and grace, who treasured his family above all else, and whose spirit will remain with all who knew him. While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well-lived, full of laughter, love, and lasting connections.

Rest in peace, Chris G. Smith. You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and fondly remembered.
