Christine B. Measell, 73, of Syracuse, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, after a short illness.
Chris was born on July 23, 1952, in Queens, N.Y., and was the daughter of the late Annemarie Lorenz and Howard L. Measell Jr.
She graduated from Garden City High School and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Syracuse University. She also earned a certificate in Management Information Systems from Le Moyne College.
Chris started her career with the Syracuse University Library System and eventually became a dispatcher, customer service and sales representative, operations assistant, and customer service supervisor with Time Warner and Spectrum Cable Systems and their predecessor companies.
She enjoyed reading, solving the N.Y. Times Connections puzzles, gardening, anything Italian, traveling to Europe, Syracuse University Women's Lacrosse, and spending time with friends and family. Chris was a strong supporter of the Friends of the Central Library Author Series and could probably run the Literature category on Jeopardy.
Chris is survived by her brother- and sister-in-law, John and Liane Measell; niece Kayla Measell; and nephew Tyler Measell. Also included are extended family members Paula Michalak and Jim Bergh, Christy Walker and Jack Waterston, Matthew and Sarah Michalak, Christopher Michalak, Joel Michalak and Kathryn Skitt, Sarah and Jamie Rubley, Evelyn Maguschak, Amanda Bly, and Jacob Walker.
A celebration of life event will be held in September.
