David C. Johnson, born on July 6, 1949, in Syracuse, New York, passed away on April 15, 2025, in his hometown. He led a life defined by dedication, service, and a passion for the trades, carving out a respected career as a professional house painter closely associated with Fort Drum.
David's military service from 1971 to 1975 in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era was a significant chapter in his life. His commitment and bravery during this time were indicative of his character, which he carried throughout his life.
An enthusiastic outdoorsman, David found joy in fishing and was an active participant in Walleye Tournaments. He also embraced camaraderie through his involvement in a local dart league, where he fostered many friendships.
Above all, David's proudest accomplishment was his family. He is survived by his life long companion, Frances Whitmore; his son, Dennis Johnson; and his grandson, George Johnson, along with several nieces and nephews who cherished his presence in their lives. He will forever be remembered by family and friends for his unwavering love and support, as well as his infectious enthusiasm for life.
He is predeceased by his brothers: Don, Wayne, William, and Gary Johnson; as well as his caring sisters: Sally (Fritz) Johnson and Marilyn (Spaulding) Johnson; and his niece, Beverly Johnson.
Calling hours honoring David will be held on April 30, 2025, from 4-6PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 6PM, both taking place at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, located at 705 N Main St, Syracuse, NY 13212.
David’s legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts of those who knew him. His memory will serve as a testament to a life well-lived.
