David Hubert Murphy, 67, of Syracuse, passed away July 1, 2024. David was born in Niagara Falls, New York on November 12, 1956 to the late David and Doris Murphy.
He graduated from New Hartford NY in 1967. David completed a Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech with and an additional 1-year internship with Eastman Kodak, where he was employed until he retired. He was very active in sports and excelled especially in tennis. He was considered the #1 player while in high school, winning numerous awards. While he excelled in sports and enjoyed his career at Eastman Kodak, his greatest accomplishment was raising his daughters. The girls have fond memories of their dad spending time with them while growing up. He often built things with them including a swing set built with the intentions the girls could use it as adults.
He is survived by his wife Lisa Murphy; two daughters, Krista Murphy (Virginia) and Keisha (Alex) Mulvey; a grandchild Alexander Mulvey Jr (Florida); brother, Dan (Patty) Murphy (Florida); sister, Kyle (Jeff) Colten (Massachusetts); and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer gratitude to the staff at Central Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for his exceptional care where he spent six years after suffering a massive stroke.
In keeping with David's wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. His family with gather seaside in the fall, for a memorial to honor David.
