David A. O'Mara, born on October 12, 1963, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026. His life was marked by a dedicated career and deep family bonds, leaving behind a legacy cherished by all who knew him.
Dave’s professional journey spanned many years as a computer programmer and analyst, contributing his skills to notable Syracuse companies including MONY Financial Services, Cooper Crouse-Hinds, and Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton, New York. His commitment and expertise were hallmarks of a career that blended technical knowledge with a steadfast work ethic.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dave was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time with his family and friends, traveling to new and familiar places, and indulging in his favorite treats—ice cream and coffee. He was especially known for his involvement in his children’s soccer teams, where he playfully earned the nickname “Coach Dave” as their devoted coach from the sidelines. His fun-loving personality, quick wit, and infectious sense of humor made him a beloved figure in his community.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of 40 years, Deborah O'Mara; his two daughters, Shannon DeSantis (James) and Kelly O'Mara (Patrick Voorhees); his two sons, Ryan O'Mara (Karen Baumert) and Eric O'Mara (Sangeeta); and his cherished grandchildren, Addilynn and Caeden DeSantis. Their lives were deeply enriched by his presence, guidance, and humor.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marceline O'Mara, whose memories he carried with him throughout his life.
In remembering David O'Mara, we honor a man whose warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit left an indelible mark on his family, friends, and community. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and dedication—a testament to a life well lived and a heart profoundly felt.
