Deborah S. Cobb, 73, of Baldwinsville, passed away June 15, 2025. Deborah was born in Watertown, New York on September 27, 1951 to the late Robert and Lorna Cobb.
Debb grew up on a farm in Ellisburg with various animals, cows and horses shown in 4-H at county fairs and the New York State Fair in Syracuse. She obtained her education at the former Belleville Central School, Belleville, NY, and graduated from Rochester School for the Deaf and attended National Institute of Technology for the Deaf, Rochester, NY.
She had various hobbies including photography, genealogy, hunting, and target shooting. Debb thoroughly enjoyed traveling abroad especially Israel and the wineries.
Her heart longed for the country not the city.
She worked for the Federal Government for 20 years at Fort Drum, NY and Syracuse, NY, and an officer and member of various Organizations for/of the Deaf.
She received the 1973-1976 North Country Club of the Deaf award for her time and efforts and Co- founder of NCCD, 1987 Central New York Deaf Person of the Year, 1997 Award for 15 years as President of Syracuse Metro Telecommunications for the Deaf (SMTD), 2001-2002 Canine Working Companions - The David Veatch Advocacy Memorial Advocacy Award, 2012 Deaf Advocacy Council of Central New York (DAC) in Recognition of her exemplary leadership of selfless acts of time and dedication to this organization.
She is survived by her sister, Joan (Stuart Yetman) Cobb; brother, James (Jeri) Cobb; friends, James Fitzgerald, Nancy (John) Longo, Pamela Macauley, Janice Bonehill, Joanna Hayford, Esther Morrow, Sue Fisher and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved certified hearing dogs Kandy (2002), and Yoann (2016).
The family would like to thank everyone at Crouse Hospital for the exceptional care that Deborah received during her stay.
A graveside service will take place Friday, June 27 at 1pm at Woodside Cemetery, Belleville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to HumaneCNY.
