Debra Ann McCaffrey, cherished mother, grandmother (Uma), and friend, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on September 5, 1960, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Debra was the beloved daughter of Edward and Anna Kochanek. Known for her boundless kindness and generous spirit, she touched the lives of all who knew her.
Debra was a retired Adjuster with Auto One Insurance Co. Beyond her work, Debra was a remarkable person whose thoughtfulness shone brightly; she had a unique ability to find gifts that perfectly reminded her of people she cared about.
Her passions were many and reflected her vibrant personality. Debra loved spending quality time with family and friends, exploring new places—especially those with a haunted charm—experimenting with cooking and baking, and loved watching movies, particularly horror films. She loved to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events, concerts, and award ceremonies. Holidays were made magical through her careful preparations—crafting Easter baskets and coloring eggs, assembling “Back to School” gift baskets, and inviting each grandchild to her home at Christmas to bake their favorite cookies together. Debra also found solace and friendship practicing yoga at the North Syracuse Community Center alongside her best friend.
Debra was preceded in death by her loving parents, Edward F. Kochanek and Anna M. Kochanek; her husband, Roger McCaffrey; and her three sisters, Denise Kochanek, Diane Kochanek, and Denine Spivey.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mallory F. (Eric) Graber of North Syracuse; her granddaughters, Alivia Graber and Makalah Graber; her grandson, Logan Graber; and her step-father, Daniel Caiella.
