Diane Hazell, 78, born July 12, 1948, in Wanaque, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2026, at Sunny Side Care Center in East Syracuse, New York.
Diane spent much of her life in New Jersey before moving with her husband, John, to Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania, in 2001, where they purchased their first home together. Following John's passing in 2008, Diane relocated to the greater Syracuse, New York, area, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Diane will be remembered for her spunky personality and the cheerful, friendly spirit she shared with others during some of her happiest years. She had a fondness for angels, a love for Collie dogs, and a longtime interest in Native American history and culture. In her later years, her Christian faith became an important part of her life, and she found comfort in her belief in Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Hazell, and her son, John E. Hazell Jr.
Diane is survived by her daughters and their families: Bridget Walling and her husband, Kenneth Jr., and their daughters, Dharma and Freyja; and Stacey Wright, her daughter, Crystal Casey, and Crystal's children, Ivy Poore and River Newton.
She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Bardsley, whom Diane affectionately referred to as her "sweetest sister," and Joan Rhinesmith, along with many nieces and nephews.
Diane's sisters-in-law, Joyce Underwood and Maryanne Mariano, also survive her. Both provided friendship and support in the years following her husband's passing.
There will be no formal services. Diane's ashes will be scattered privately by her family.
May she now find the peace and rest she sought in life.
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain." — Revelation 21:4
