Diane Kimpland, age 91, of Pennellville, NY, entered eternal life on November 17, 2025. She was born on March 20, 1934, in Roxbury, Massachusetts, to Dorothy Andrews Morris and James Morris. A woman of profound faith and resilience, Diane lived her life serving others through ministry, compassion, and love.
Diane was married to Walter Griffis, Arnold Bradshaw, and Merton Kimpland, each of whom predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Wendy Griffis and her siblings, James, Beverly, and Leslie.
Diane is survived by her children, Anne Griffis, Bruce Griffis, Wayne Griffis, and Sam Griffis; her siblings, David Morris and Margaret (Peggy) Michaels; beloved grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Diane graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School for Girls in 1951. In 1954, she graduated with a certificate from Boston Clerical School. In later years, Diane received a Bachelor of Science degree from Empire State College in New York and a Master of Divinity degree from Colgate-Rochester Divinity School. She was an ordained minister for over 45 years, first with The Salvation Army and then with the United Methodist Church. Her appointment before she retired was in Pennellville, NY for eight years. After her retirement, she joined Pennellville church, where she was an active and cherished member of the community.
Her ministry was marked by understanding, empathy, and wisdom forged through experience. She guided her congregations with humility, warmth, and an unwavering trust in God’s love. Diane’s legacy is woven from countless acts of kindness, moments of prayer, shared wisdom, and compassion. She lived with purpose and left a light that continues to shine in those who knew her. May we honor her by walking in faith, service, and grace - just as she did.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Pennellville United Methodist Church, 389 County Route 54, Pennellville, NY 13132. All are invited to a luncheon following the service.
The family requests that donations in her memory be made to the Pennellville UMC or UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief.
