Diane Stocker Meyers

Listen to Obituary

Diane Stocker Meyers departed us after a brave battle with cancer. She never missed a moment to shine, including her impeccable abilities to “gracefully” make a grand entrance or be the first to make a witty joke or come back.

Diane worked at Wegmans for 43 years before retiring in 2022. She had many friends from all walks of life that swear she took jokes and memories with her to the grave (or at least the hope). Diane made work funny and exciting and was always dropping things or making messes that were not meant to be made.

Diane didn’t like to be the center of attention but she was always one to be the center of attention. She earned her nickname of Grace by always tripping on her two left feet and falling flat on her face. She never was an ice skater but was always finding every patch of ice possible. She was blissfully unaware of her body in space, notably knocking over a mannequin at the mall and playing dominos with picture frames in the aisles of TJ Maxx all on accident…and more than once.

She was a lover of many things, including her children, grand children, her beloved dog Maple, shopping, spending time and money on hobbies that were of brief interest, puzzles, and all things plants, but really just spending all her money.

Diane attempted to live each day to its fullest. She enjoyed gardening and planting a ridiculous amount of plants in her small back yards, having too many houseplants all the time, and going to a greenhouse to buy more plants when she was bored. She loved collecting rocks from places she has visited and adding them to her gardens. She began collecting driftwood making bead wall hanging with her findings as well. She loved road trips, eating out at restaurants, and vacationing at the beach.

Leaving this earthly world has left a hole in many hearts. She will be dearly missed by her children, Stacey Meyers, Nicholas Meyers (Ashley), and Lindsay Meyers (Corey), and her grand children, Brooke, Danni Mae, and Noelle. Her partner Gary Mitchell, will forever miss the multiple daily packages from Amazon or other shopping sites and her one-pot mystery meals for dinner. Her bonus family including Doug (Kim) Mitchell, Stephanie (Jamie) McCarrick, and Matt Mitchell, along with their children Tyler, Cole, Connor, and Derreck were also always on her mind. During this battle her sisters, Karen LaQuidari, Susan Betts, and Nancy Stocker, and her brother Jim Stocker, and her ex-husband Tim, have been amazing to help caring for her, helping around the house, running errands, and dealing with her hard headed and stubborn attitude until her last days, and by just simply by being here. She has many nieces and nephews who will greatly miss her shenanigans as well. And small group of ladies whom have been called “the breakfast club” who will be leaving a chair open for her.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time.

If you desire to make a donation or contribution in her honor please consider Hospice of CNY (who provided amazing and delicate care for the last 5 months) or to the Richard M. Stocker Memorial Scholarship Fund, Red Creek Central School, P.O. Box 190, Red Creek, NY 13143.
