Donald R. Gates Sr., 89, of Syracuse, NY passed away on Monday, July 15th, 2024 at SUNY Upstate after a illness. He was born in Binghamton, NY to Mary Andrews and Andy Gates.
Dick coached Special Olympics for 10 years, and was a loving foster parent. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and lending a helping hand to others when needed.
Dick was predeceased by his Mother and Father; Brother, Lester; Sister, Doris; and Sons, Poncho and Lonnie Gates.
He is survived by his Wife, Lula M. Gates; Brother, Lee Gates; Sons, Michael (Danny) Gates, and Robert (Catherine) Gates; several Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, and many Nieces and Nephews.
