Donovan F. "Donnie" Furlong, Jr

Donovan F. Furlong, Jr. 71, of Clay, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, with his family by his side. Donovan was born in Oswego, on October 26, 1954, son of the late Donovan, Sr. and Marjorie (Chillson) Furlong. Donnie grew up in the Town of Hannibal, NY where he graduated from high school in 1973. He was part of the Hannibal Fire Dept. and a member of the VFW Post #5380, until calling the Town of Clay his home. He was also a member of the Clay Historical Society. Over the years he worked at Birdseye Foods, Miller Brewing Co., Sams Club (where he met the love of his life), Mur-bro Parking and OCO Transportation in Oswego, where he retired in 2021.

Donnie loved his food; ice cream-and if you ever wanted to know open day and hours for Rudy's- Just Ask Dad. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, playing bingo, bowling, playing cards (Pitch) and his grandkids. But the biggest love of his life was his wife of 25years. They always took care of one another, laughing, smiling and had a bond most wish to find.

Donovan was predeceased by his son, Donovan Furlong, III, sister, Jaye O'Brien, his parents, Donovan & Marjorie Furlong and his mother and father-in-law Barbara & Richard Dickson.

He is survived by his wife, soulmate of 25 years, Debra (Dickson) Furlong, daughters, Alicia (George) Wright, Shanon (Chris) Deveney, son, Kevin Furlong, sisters, Debra (John) Byrne, Ann (Skip) Walters, brothers, Scott Furlong, Tyson (Marcia) Furlong, grandchildren, Hannah Furlong, Mason Furlong, Sheldon Gauger, Natalie Wright, Danika Wright, Natalia Curtis, Richard Wright, Ayrabella Wright, Chloe Dalaba, brother-in-laws, John (Joy) Dickson, Richard Dickson, Larry O'Brien, along with several nieces, nephews & cousins.

Donnie was one of the biggest kids you could have ever met. He had a big heart and could get you laughing till every bone in your body hurt.

He was 1 in a million.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 10, 2026 from 10-11am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Burial will take place at Pine Plains Cemetery in Clay.
