Dorothy J. Winslow (Rock), 88, of Saranac Lake, New York, passed away on July 23, 2026, at the home of her son, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Winslow Sr., whom she married in 1958, and by her 11 siblings. She spent the majority of her life living and working in and around the Syracuse area. She worked for the NY Telephone Company, Loretto Geriatric Center, and Arctic King Ice Cream, where she became a familiar face in the community.
Dorothy was best known for the unmistakable sparkle in her eye and the welcoming smile that family and friends came to expect whenever they saw her.
In the weeks leading up to her passing, Dorothy was blessed to spend time reminiscing, laughing, and making memories with the family and friends she loved so dearly. Her family is incredibly grateful that, with the help of the Upstate Medical University Hospital at Home program and Hospice of CNY, they were able to bring her home quickly and safely, caring for her in a familiar and loving environment. They are also deeply grateful to the family and friends who stepped in without hesitation. Their love, kindness, and hands-on help made her care at home possible.
Dorothy’s love lives on through her surviving family. She leaves behind her son, Ray Winslow; her granddaughters, Lauren Winslow and Courtney Winslow and her beloved Goldendoodle, Butch, who was her constant companion. She is also survived by several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026 from 11 am to 1 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 North Main Street, N. Syracuse, NY. A funeral service will follow at 1 pm to celebrate Dorothy’s life.
