It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Douglas Lee Furbeck Jr., who passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2026 at the age of 52.

Doug was a man of incredible strength, unwavering love, and a contagious sense of humor that could light up any room. He lived his life by a simple but powerful motto: put your family first, put your family before yourself, and he did just that every single day.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle & friend, who loved his family more than anything in this world. His love was steady, selfless, and unconditional, and it will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know him.

Doug had a passion for sports. He played on a men’s softball & basketball league and a corn hole league. He was a proud fan of the New York Giants and the UNC Tar Heels. Whether he was watching a game, or playing in a game, or talking sports with friends and family, his enthusiasm was undeniable.

He dedicated 16 years of his life as a printing press operator at Paperworks Industries, a job he truly loved and took great pride in. He had the biggest heart for children and found true joy in coaching and mentoring young people. He uplifted those around him with kindness, encouragement and his amazing sense of humor. He had a way of making people smile, feel seen, and feel better just by being himself.

Known for his generosity and warm spirit, Doug gave freely of his time, love, and energy. And to those closest to him, he will always be remembered not only for his strength and heart, but also for a phenomenal fireworks display for the family’s annual Fourth of July party and his famous homemade mac and cheese, a small but meaningful symbol of the love he shared with others.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, strength, and selflessness that will never be forgotten.

Doug is survived by his wife Kathy, his sons, Douglas H. Furbeck, Andrew (Kim) Furbeck, Joshua Furbeck, Tayber (Mark) Furbeck, Nicholas (Mariah) Furbeck and his daughter, Cecelia Furbeck, 7 beautiful granddaughters and 1 amazing grandson, his parents, Doug and Mary Furbeck and 3 sisters, Shelly McNally, Mary (Pat) Mccauley, Audrey (Robert Hughs) Furbeck and several cherished nieces & nephews.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A celebration of life is to be announced in the near future.
