Listen to Obituary

It is with great sadness that family announces the passing of Edith L. Davis Moore, 69, of Canastota NY, on Monday June 1, 2026, at Iroquois Skilled Nursing Community after courageously battling serious health issues like a true warrior.

Born in Canastota, NY on December 24, 1957, Edith was the daughter of Chase Davis, and the late Ellen Bradley Depew of Cazenovia. During high school Edith completed an LPN degree through the BOCES program, and soon after graduation joined the US Army and served for 4 years as a medic, and throughout her life took many higher education classes of interest to her.

Family and friends will remember Edith for her strength, quick wit, adventurous spirit, and her ability to bring laughter wherever she went. She was known for living life to the fullest and never passing up an opportunity to gather with family and friends, share stories, enjoy good music, and make lasting memories. Edith had a true passion for learning and pursued many interests throughout her life, including creative writing, drawing, woodworking, playing guitar, and motorcycle rides with friends. While she embraced every adventure life offered, her greatest joy was being "Grandma" to Ethan and Ruby.

Edith is survived by her son, Bradley Moore, of Syracuse NY, grandchildren, Ethan Moore of Colorado and Ruby Moore, of Las Vegas; father, Chase Davis of Cazenovia; siblings, Chase Davis Jr. (Deb) of Canastota, Patricia Johnson of Norwich, John Davis (Andrea) of Palmyra, Doris Davis of NC, Larry Davis of NC, and James Davis of Cazenovia. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be an event scheduled soon for family and friends to gather for a “Celebration of Life.”

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Edith may be directed to Clear Path for Veterans located in Chittenango, NY which provides many vitally important services for Veterans.
