Edward Pierce

Edward Pierce passed away on September 1, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on January 24, 1943, Ed will be remembered as a devoted family man whose life was marked by hard work, honor, laughter, and deep commitment to the people and places he loved.

Ed was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served on the USS Enterprise. After his military service, he built a long and steady career, retiring from Carrier Corporation. He also owned and operated Rural Refrigeration Service for many years, reflecting the strong work ethic and determination that defined so much of his life.

Those who knew Ed will remember his great sense of humor and the honorable way he carried himself. He was hardworking and dedicated to his family, and he found joy in many lifelong interests. He was an avid hunter, golfer, and bowler, and for many years he was a member of the Pastimes Athletic Club. He loved spending time at camp in the Adirondacks, a place that surely held many treasured memories. Ed was also a lifelong antique collector and dealer, a pursuit that reflected both his passion and appreciation for history and craftsmanship. Ed was a lover of animals; he will be missed by his buddies Cali and Misty.

Above all, Ed’s life was centered on family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Jeanne Pierce, and by his daughter, Michele Pierce. He also leaves behind a loving family of grandchildren: Ryan Cean (Zoe), Jillian Pierce, Joshua Pierce (Angie), Eric Pierce (Cassie), Emily Smith and her husband Kyle, and Elizabeth Barber and her husband Jordan. His legacy continues as well in his great-grandchildren, Owen, Bryce, Brooks, and Vivienne, who were part of the family he cherished so deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward V. and Helen Pierce; his son, Edward Pierce Jr.; and his sister, Cynthia Froio.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on September 13, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N Main St, Syracuse, NY 13212. A funeral service will follow there at 3:00 p.m.

Ed leaves behind the memory of a life well lived—one of service, devotion, laughter, and enduring love for family. He will be deeply missed and warmly remembered by all who knew him.
