Elizabeth (Betty) Anne Maroney, 75, of Syracuse, passed away April 6, 2026.
Betty was born in Syracuse, New York, on June 7, 1950, to Dennis and Mary Scanlon.
Betty retired from the Onondaga County Comptroller’s office in 2010, where she worked for 30 years. In her free time, she enjoyed doing puzzles and going for walks with her husband. Betty also enjoyed spending time with her family. She was often found at her grandchildren’s events, celebrating their athletic, musical, and academic accomplishments.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Mary Scanlon; two brothers, John Scanlon and Edward Scanlon; two sisters, Mary (Art) Scanlon and Kathleen (Richard) Palmer;
She is survived by her spouse of 48 years, Thomas Maroney; three daughters, Melissa (David) Pangaro, Amanda (Mark) Stewart, and Brittany (Joshua) Maroney; six grandchildren, Paige Pangaro, Annabelle Stewart, Sawyer Stewart, Haylee Pangaro, Riley Ort, and Kinsley Stewart; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. As well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Family and friends may call on Monday, April 13th, from 4 to 7 at Newcomer Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10am at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Father Neal officiating.
Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt.
