Elizabeth (Betty) B. Puckey of North Syracuse passed away at home on February 16, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 95 years young and her greatest legacy was her enduring love and devotion to her family.
Born to Chester and Virginia Bragg on November 9, 1930, Betty was the eldest sibling to Joan and Virginia (Kay), who remained her closest friends throughout her life. She cherished her family, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and delighted in spending time with them and baking treats together. Betty also maintained close relationships with her many nieces, nephews, and their families.
She loved crocheting blankets for all the kids, excelled at cooking, and enjoyed gardening, cheering for the NY Yankees, and socializing with friends. Over the years, Betty held various positions, retiring after almost 40 years of service in the Oneida County offices.
Her friendships were deep and enduring, especially with the many friends she made working at the Oneida County offices in Utica, during her snowbird vacations in New Smyrna Beach, Fla, and playing bingo with friends in Syracuse.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband James Puckey, her son John Ciccone (Joan), and her daughter Virginia (Ginny) Ciccone. She is survived by her children: David Ciccone (Sherry), Kathleen Ciccone (James Corridan), Beth Verrillo (Angelo), Stephen Ciccone (Dawn), and Christopher Puckey (Elaine McVicar); as well as 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to all of her caregivers, especially Dr. Elizabeth McNany, who provided outstanding and compassionate care for over 15 years.
Family and friends may call on Friday, February 27, 2026 from 4pm - 7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals , 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. A funeral service will be held at St. Daniel’s Church at 9 AM on Saturday, February 28, followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial.
