Listen to Obituary

Ellen M. Taylor, 86, of Canastota, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2026. She was born in Cohasset, Massachusetts, on May 6, 1940, to the late Russell and Irma Chase Sholes.

Ellen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She found great joy in crafting and was especially talented at making yarn poodles, clown air fresheners, ceramics, and christmas ornaments; along with many other crafts. She also enjoyed watching her favorite game shows, playing on her tablet, going on facebook and messaging with her loved ones. Ellen created memories with her family going fishing, taking camping trips, and tubing at Salmon River and going on bike rides to Lyman Orchards. Most of all, she cherished making memories with her family, whether on their trips, at family gatherings, or simply spending time together. Her love, strength, sense of humor, and spirited personality touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Edward J. Taylor; her children, David F. Tisdale (Novia), Wallace E. Tisdale (Debra), Dorothy I. Agrippino (Nicholas), and Ginger L. McGuire (Michael); grandchildren, Justin, whom she and Edward lovingly raised, Delia, David Jr., Wallace, Brittany, Brian, Samantha, Nicholas, Nicholas, Fawnna, Johanna, and Jerrid; many cherished great-grandchildren; her sister, Carol Collins (Dennis); and her nephew, Michael Stiefel (Gilda).

In addition to her parents, Ellen was predeceased by her son, Howard Tisdale.

Ellen's family will forever treasure the love, laughter, guidance, and memories she shared throughout her life. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
