Frederick Caccamo Jr., 67, passed away on January 11, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. A loving husband, father, brother, musician, and artist, he will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his creative spirit, and the many ways he enriched the lives of those around him.
A lifelong resident of the area, Fred was deeply devoted to his wife and children, with whom he enjoyed good times at camp, playing board games, and attending numerous big Italian family gatherings. From Pinewood Derby projects, to serving as the area’s first “Girl Scout Cookie Dad,” to being president of the Henninger Band Boosters and chaperoning the annual band trips, Fred’s commitment to supporting his children and their communities was evident in everything he did.
Fred and his wife, Peggy, shared a love of animals and, once their children were grown, took on the joy of caring for the special pets that came into their lives. He cared for local animals, making sure there was seed available for birds, nuts for squirrels, and treats and a warm and welcoming voice for the neighborhood pets. And there was always a special place in his heart for his “grandpets,” whether they had paws or fins.
Fred was an artist whose creativity crossed a large variety of interests. He enjoyed drawing and woodworking; however his passion was in musical arts. A talented musician, Fred sang and played multiple instruments and could often be found with a guitar in hand. In the 1980s, he rocked the local bar scene as the vocalist and guitarist for the band Head First.
Fred’s legacy endures in the love of his family, the traditions he nurtured, and the many lives he touched through his kindness, humor, and creative spirit.
Fred was predeceased by his parents, Flora and Frederick Caccamo Sr. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Peggy; his children, Krissi, Angela, and Derek (Rachel); his brothers Daniel, Michael (Amber), David (Mary Anne), and Steven (Stephanie); and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Fred’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or formal services. A celebration of his life will be held in the summer, when family and friends can gather to honor his memory.
