Listen to Obituary

Gary M. Bohm, 72, of Wampsville, NY, passed away on Saturday November 15, 2025. Gary was born in Syracuse, New York, on July 1, 1953, to the late Richard and Martha Bohm. He grew up with a strong work ethic and a love of hands-on craftsmanship, qualities that shaped both his career and the way he lived his life. He was a self-employed contractor, the proud owner of Bohm Construction and a master of his craft. He built a reputation for honesty, tremendous skill, and dedication. His workmanship can be found throughout the community, lasting reminders of his remarkable talent and the immense pride he took in every project.

Gary was happiest outdoors, especially when he was out on the water. Boating was one of his greatest passions, and he spent countless hours on Sandy Pond, Lake Ontario, Oneida Lake and the St. Lawrence River. Whether he was slicing through the waves, watching a sunset from the shore, or sharing in laughter on the beach with family and friends, Gary found his greatest joy near the water. It gave him a sense of serenity, peace and bliss that will forever be remembered by those who shared those moments with him.

He was also a man of many other hobbies. Gary was an avid water-skier, downhill skier, and snowmobiler, always embracing adventure. He loved dancing as well, spreading laughter and energy with every step, and never missed a chance to spin a willing partner across the floor.

Above all, Gary cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. People were naturally drawn to him, drawn by his steady presence, sense of humor, and genuine generosity of heart. He took immense pride in his children and grandchildren, and he treasured any time spent with them. Those who loved him will remember his stories, his laughter, his smile and the unmistakable way he lit up when surrounded by the people he held closest.

Gary was predeceased by his sister, Sheila Hujar, and his niece, Keri Ann Hujar.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Bohm; two sons, Erik Bohm and Matt Bohm; daughter, Lorrie Bohm and son-in-law, Tim Lee; stepdaughter, Ashley Whitcomb; two brothers, Phil Bohm and Tom Bohm; his sister, Barb Bohm; two nieces, Shannon Bohm and Holly Grant; two nephews, Marty Bohm and Michael Hujar; his ex-wife, Peggy Bohm; and six grandchildren, Sharlet Whitcomb, Brennan Whitcomb, Brigid Lee, Nora Lee, Conrad Lee, and Jace Bohm. Each of them carries forward a part of his spirit and the legacy he leaves behind.
