Gerald C. Lavy Sr.

Gerald C. Lavy Sr. (Jerry), 86, of Syracuse, passed away June 7, 2026. Jerry was born in Wheeling , West Virginia on August 24, 1939 to Clifford and Mary Lavy. Jerry retired from Syracuse City School District where he was employed as a custodian. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, casino gambling, Sci-Fi movies, was a big fan of the Price Is Right, spending time with family especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; spouse, Dorothy Lavy and brother, Richard Lavy.

He is survived by three sons, Gerald (Dawn) Lavy, Jr., Terrence Lavy, Daniel (Leslie Benack) Lavy; daughter, Carrie (Patrick) O'Hara; sister, Angela Joel; 9 grandchildren, Joshua, Morgan, Andrew, Nicholas, Jake, Molly, Tim, Ainsley and Noah; 3 sisters in law, Clara and Joan Cooper, Phyllis Smith and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call on Friday, June 12, 2026 from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm. Family is requesting casual attire.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
