Gerald H. Reynolds, aged 85, of Mattydale, passed away on February 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and cherished memories. Born on July 10, 1940, in Watertown, New York, Gerald was the son of Gerald and Virginia Reynolds. He lived a life dedicated to family and friends, as well as to his profession and passions.
Gerald was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, embodying the values of duty and honor throughout his life. After his military service, he found his vocation at Crucible Steel, where he worked diligently as a Refactory Mason until his retirement. His work ethic and dedication set a strong example for those around him.
In his leisure, Gerald was a man of many interests and talents. He had a passion for nature and the outdoors, being an avid hunter and fisherman. Gerald was also a master archer, skillfully honing his abilities with great pride. His love for bowling culminated in a remarkable achievement of bowling a perfect game—a 300—showcasing his competitive spirit and joy for the sport. Gerald's enthusiasm for golf and his time spent at the family camp created beloved memories that he treasured deeply.
A devoted family man, Gerald adored his wife Sheila, whom he lovingly shared 60 years of marriage with. He is also survived by their daughter Ellyn (Chris) Ostrander and two sons, Jerry and Jeffrey (Michelle) Reynolds. He was a proud grandfather to six granddaughters—Bryann Dingle, Jenna Reynolds, Zoe Reynolds, Allette Magno Jabbal, Ellary Reynolds, and Alchemey Spooner—and three grandsons—Brendan Dingle, Brandon Ostrander, and Brent Ostrander. He took great joy in the time spent with each of them, fostering connections that will carry on in their hearts.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, as well as two brothers, Robert Reynolds and Billy Reynolds. His absence will be profoundly felt, yet the love and memories he leaves behind will continue to inspire and shape the lives of his family and friends.
