Gunnie M. Gilliam of Syracuse, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018 at home surrounded by her family.
Born May 5 in Hughes, Arkansas, she resided in Syracuse for 43 years. Gunnie was employed in the Syracuse City School District for 24 years, having retired in 2008 to watch her soap operas. She was a member of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church.
Gunnie M. Gilliam was preceded in death by her parents, Gunny and Emma B. McGloun; a sister, Emma Mae Barbee; and a brother, Cleophus Freeman.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 43 years, Charles; three daughters, Sandra, Delores, and Tiffany; her dog, Achilles; two brothers, Willie (Hattie) Shaw of Chicago, IL, Charlie (Mila) McGloun of Syracuse; two sisters, Sally Brown, and Gladis Ann McGloun of Syracuse; two sisters-in-law, Julia Gilliam of Syracuse and Maggie Freeman of Memphis, TN; and nieces, nephews, loving relatives, and friends.
Gunnie was truly loved, blessed, and will be deeply missed.
