Harold J. White Jr.

January 11, 1937 — June 17, 2025

Harold J. White Jr., 88, of Brewerton, NY, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Harold was born on January 11,1937, in Lake Placid, New York, and was the beloved son of Almeda (O’Connor) White and Harold White.

He grew up in Lake Placid, where he graduated from Lake Placid High School and developed a love for track and hockey.

A proud veteran, Harold served in the United States Air Force for ten years—a journey that took him near and far, serving his country with dedication and pride. During his time in the military, Harold met his wife Joan whom he was married to for 50 years.

After his military service, he worked as a machinist at Crouse-Hinds for over 20 years and together, him and Joan raised a family of five. Harold was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a longtime member of North Syracuse Baptist Church. His faith was the foundation of his life, guiding him in how he loved and served others.

He had a passion for sports and could often be found in the bleachers at his grandchildren's sporting events such as softball, soccer, basketball and football. If he wasn't in the stands, you could find him cheering on Syracuse basketball or watching NHL games with his beloved companion cat, Charlotte.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Lee White (Moore); his parents, Almeda (O’Connor) and Harold White; his siblings William Hughes, Doris White, Charlotte White, and Frances White; his great-grandson, Thomas “little Tommy” White; and his beloved dog Amy Lou.

He is survived by his children; Harold James White III (Diane), Grant Christian White (Suzanne), William Anthony White (Elisa), Nancy DeStefano (Fred), and John Joseph White. He was a proud “Pop Pop” to Karissa Nemier (Kevin), Grant Jr. White (Lauren), Chris Jackson (Amanda), Kyle Jackson (Rachel), Cory Jackson (Cassandra), Ashley Lajoie (Kristina), Mitchell White (Michelle), Noelle White, and Maxwell White. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Hailey and Hope Nemier, Jack and Cole White, Madilyn Lajoie, and Jonah Jackson. He is also survived by his brothers, Carlton White and Robert White, along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss his silly spirit, quick wit, and kind heart.

There will be no calling hours offered to the public.

A private service will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, N. Syracuse, New York 13212 on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid, New York.
