Hattie A. Peters

Hattie A. (Cook) Peters, Christian, grew up in Otisco, NY. Born to Munson and Clara Alice (Bean) Cook, she would have two siblings who have passed on before her: George O. Cook and Judith Arlene Fisher. Hattie attended Tully Schools, where she would graduate and go on to study and begin a career as a Comptometer Operator. Then Sherwood/Pete came into her life. Sherwood and Hattie would marry in 1956.

Hattie’s employment at Crucible Steel would end early as her desire to raise a family took precedent. First to come into this world was Cynthia, followed by Shari.

She lived a blessed and sometimes challenging life. Hattie wore many different hats. First as a wife, then as a mother, taxiing for her daughters and, later, their horses as well. She would work at Welch Allyn, Glidden Paint, Century 21, and The Athenaeum as well as host a host of other jobs and a workout club at Amber Congregational Church. She regularly attended Amber and/or Borodino United Methodist Church throughout her years.

Hattie had many friends and contacts in her various roles and clubs she attended. She loved helping people find the right home! She enjoyed fishing on Otisco Lake in her Glastron, trying to land a bigger tiger muskie than the last.

Happy memories were made at Singing Seniors of Skaneateles, First Place, as well as various Bible studies.

Her later years were laid out with routine. A pop in to see the great-grandchildren. A weekly visit to the hairdresser, Shelly, aided by her granddaughter Jenifer or friend Kim. Nails every so often nearby. Various lunch outings and church on Sundays and special events with Jim.

Hattie Ann is survived by her daughter Shari (Peter) Henderson; grandchildren Jeremy (Suzanne) Henderson, Jenifer (Benjamin) Reed, Jonathon (Mary) Henderson, and Jordan Henderson; and eight great-grandchildren. Predeceased are her eldest daughter Cynthia (Lance) Henderson and husband Sherwood F. Peters Jr.

A celebration of her 88 years of life will be held at Borodino United Methodist Church on Sunday, August 9th, at 2 pm. A brief calling time of 1/2 hr. and a short service with a dessert reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Borordino United Methodist Church, 1620 Route 174, Skaneateles, NY 13152.
