Hestina Legette was a dynamic woman called by God. She empowered several individuals in her hometown of Syracuse, NY. She expressed her passion of self-empowerment through writing, encouraging, and building up others. She married her high school sweetheart, Leroy Legette, Sr. in 1971. They have six children, Leroy Jr., David, Shelley, Kelley, William, and Zena, along with sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In 1991, they founded Faith By Love Family Worship Church, where Hestina served as the Co-Pastor with her husband, Apostle Leroy Legette, Sr. Together Apostle Legette and Prophetess Hestina have been a dynamic and God loving union, called by God to address and defeat the strongholds of ignorance, racism, religion, poor self-esteem, and poverty that are holding many individuals captive.
Prophetess Hestina oversaw the Virtuous Women of Purpose Ministry. She created and established many courses designed to strengthen women of God including, “Strong Women in Challenging Times,” “How to be a Vessel of Honor,” and the “Women’s Fellowship and Support Group”. Additionally, she facilitated many workshops and assisted in departmental organization within her home church body. She was a motivational speaker and had traveled internationally, preaching and bringing forth God’s Word for over 30 years. As God began to unveil the immeasurable authority and power of confessing His word to her, she was inspired to write her own confessions, which has helped individuals to transform their lives. She has published two books entitled “Life Changing Confessions” and “You Can Be a Holy Vessel of Honor.” In September 2021, Hestina satisfactorily completed the University State of New York Coaction Department High School Equivalency Diploma after years of sacrificing for her family. She modeled tenacity, perseverance, and God’s faithfulness to individuals who thought it was too late for them to fulfill their God given purpose in life. Prophetess Hestina was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a spiritual mom to many.
She has been predeceased by her father, William Felton Robinson (Syracuse); mother, Lula Upshaw Lawrence (Syracuse); sisters, Barbara Taylor and Margie Clemons; and brothers, Louis Wright and William Robinson.
She is survived by her husband Leroy Legette Sr.; brother, Felton Robinson (Syracuse); along with her children, Leroy (Marylin) Legette, David Legette, Shelley Crawford, Kelley (Rashaan Sr.) Listenbee, William Legette, and Zena (Patrick) Legette-Bowers. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ebony, Daniel, Leroy III, Yakira, Talia, Sanaah, Sydney, Rashaan Jr., Jyrair, Kalani, Kamea, Patrick Jr. and Ciara; great-grandkids, Makalia, Jasiah, Arkira, Rayne, and Onyx; and a host of sisters-in-love, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and most of all her Faith By Love Family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 7, from 10-12PM, followed by a funeral service at 12PM, all at Faith Chapel.
