James "Butch" Kimmerle, 79, of Syracuse, NY, passed away on November 15, 2025, just three days shy of his 80th birthday. Born on November 18, 1945, in Syracuse, NY, he was a lifelong resident of the area and a cherished member of his family and community.
After years dedicated to the field of accounting, Butch transitioned to working as a security guard at Chrysler and Bristol Myers Squibb, retiring in 2025 just prior to his passing. His career allowed him to engage and form friendships with many amazing coworkers.
Butch was not just defined by his work; he was a proud father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and fiancé. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Grahling; his fiancé, Sandi Hebert; sister, Mary (Richard) Hebert; niece, Nicole (Paul) Armani; two granddaughters, Megan and Sarah McConnell; great-grandson, Ryeder Necaise; along with many extended family members who will miss him deeply.
A man of many interests, Butch was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys. Butch was a lifelong member of the Pastime Athletic Club, a not-for-profit organization providing health, fitness and social opportunities. Here, he enjoyed bowling. He also cherished the many days playing softball. His passion for the sport led him to become an umpire, contributing to the local baseball community for many years. Additionally, Butch was a former owner of a baseball card shop and possessed an impressive collection.
Above all, James took immense pride in his family, who regarded him as an amazing figure in their lives. He will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering support to those who knew him.
