James R. Hewitt, Jr.

James R. Hewitt, Jr. 75, of Central Square, passed away on Tuesday September 23, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born in Syracuse on February 11, 1950 son of the late James and Arlene Hewitt. Jim was a graduate of Liverpool High School, served in the Air National Guard and worked at HSBC Bank in Syracuse and Buffalo for many years. Jim enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, traveling and telling stories. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, grandkids, and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandee Hewitt, daughter, Brandee (Dave) Sass, son, Justin (Kristyn) Hewitt, grandchildren, Mason Sass, Holly Sass, Lilyann Hewitt, Violet Hewitt, brother, Scott Hewitt, sisters; Sue (John) Riechert, Nancy (Mike) LaFrate, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Special thank you to the Wound and Ostomy Care Unit at Crouse Hospital for taking such good care of Jim and me these past months. You will be in my heart forever.

A celebration of life will be held October 2, 2025 between 3pm to 7pm at the home of Jim and Sandee.
