James W. Janes Sr., 87, of Bridgeport, passed away on August 25, 2024. He was born in Rome, New York on February 15, 1937, to Warren and Aletha Eileen Janes.
James retired from Camden Wire after 28 years, and Wegmans, Dewitt, NY after 29 years. James served in the U.S. Army as a Recording engineer/ Audio specialist from 1956 - 1959, earning a good conduct medal. Lifelong musician and promoter of country music. He loved antiquing, and garage sales and was a vendor at the Regional Market.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Halsey-Janes; grandson, Michael Janes; brother, Robert "Tubby" and sister, Faith Perry.
He is survived by his daughter, Joy Leos; two sons, Dennis Janes and James W (Shannon) Janes, Jr.; grandchildren, Julia, Rachael (Matt), Christopher (Tameka), Patrick, Daniel, Regann; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Levi and Gemma; step-daughters, Sandy, Debbie and Patty; brothers, Donnie and Terry Janes (Lisa); sisters, Sandra (Howard) Netzband and Penny Jones; and several Nieces and Nephews.
Family and friends may call on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 11:00am - 1:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals 705 N. Main St, Syracuse, where funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00pm. Inurnment at North Syracuse Cemetery Friday, September 6, 2024 at 2:00pm

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 8th, at 10 am for golf and noon in the clubhouse at Old Erie Golf Club Durhamville, NY 13054. Bring a dish to pass (Optional).
