James McGuire

James McGuire, 69, of La Fayette, passed away April 13, 2026. James was born in Dayton, Ohio on February 24, 1957 to the late Milton and Marjorie McGuire. 

He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 141 in Manlius. James loved sports especially Syracuse University and football. He loved golfing, and traveling. But most importantly he loved spending time with his family. Like Lynyrd Skynyrd sang Free Bird James always thought he'd live his life as a Free Bird and now he finally is. 

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kriss McGuire; daughter, Brianna (Jake) Vaught; step-daughter, Maria DePalma; sisters, Molly and Maureen McGuire; brothers, Patrick (Carla), William, and Timothy; several nieces and nephews.
