James Saunders, Jr.

James Saunders Jr., 69, of Liverpool, NY, passed away May 17, 2026. James was born in Harbour Island, Bahamas on September 4, 1956 to James and Agnes Curry Saunders. James retired from the Flagler County, Florida Sheriff's Department where he served as a Deputy Sheriff. In his free time, he enjoyed Bible reading and study; he was very Spiritual. He also liked playing his guitar, feeding wildlife animals like bunnies and squirrels, walking on the beach, watching true crime stories and international traveling. Places he traveled to include the Bahamas, Denmark, Sweden, Arizona and the east coast from DC to Florida.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Saunders, Sr, Mother, Agnes Curry Saunders, Sisters: Stella Rivas, Earla Russel, Merle Johnson, Annis Pinder and Susan Saunders and Brothers: Spencer Saunders, Andrew Saunders, and Bernel ‘Bar’ Saunders.

He is survived by his wife, Roxanne L. Saunders of Liverpool, Step-Son, Brandon J. Lewis of Denmark, Step-Daughters Petal Mauricier Joseph and Joleen Chanaise Barnet, both of Florida, Sisters: Angela Johnson (Vincent), Ismae Moss (Gifford), Brothers: William Saunders (Sylvia), and Joseph “RunJoe” Saunders and a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Funeral services will be on June 6, 2026 at 2:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 7332 Buckley Rd, North Syracuse, NY 13212.
