Listen to Obituary

Jane A. (Vincent) Klaben of Liverpool, NY passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2026 after a brief illness.

Jane was born in Fulton, NY on August 18, 1932. For the first 43 years of her life, she was a resident of Solvay, NY where she was a stay-at-home mom, raising her 10 beautiful children who attended St. Cecilia’s School. Jane earned quite a reputation as a seamstress, sewing all her children’s clothing as well as the nuns’ habits, and was very involved with the Catholic Church. Once her children were old enough, she started working at Geddes Savings Bank.

For the next nearly 40 years of her life, she finished raising her children on a farm in Cato, NY while working as the first secretary at Stella Maris Retreat House in Skaneateles, NY and later as parish secretary at St. Patrick’s Church in Jordan, NY. During this time, Jane continued her involvement in the church, including over 45 years as a member of the Legion of Mary and serving twice as Chair of the Diocesan Pastoral Council. She received many honors for her service and ultimately was inducted into the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre. She lived the last 14 years of her life in the Baldwinsville and Liverpool areas, attending daily mass and continuing her contributions to her faith.

Jane was an avid cook and baker, famous for her cinnamon rolls. She’d spend weeks preparing cookies at Christmas time, delivering them to friends and family shortly before the holiday. When she moved to an assisted living facility, she insisted on having an oven and continued her baking, weekly distributing her baked goods to the staff.

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Daniel Klaben, Sr., her son Thomas, her parents, Lindo Vincent and Marion (Miller) DeRocha, and her brother Ronald Vincent and sister Linda (Vincent) Colianni.

She is survived by her nine other children: Daniel (Susan), Christine, Sandra Spencer, Gary (Debra), Karen Patrick (Michael), Mary Rewakowski (Philip), Paul (Suzanne), Matthew (Linda), Barbara Dennison (Andrew) and daughter-in-law, Shirley, 32 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, her sister Barbara Khanna, her brother Robert DeRocha, her step-sisters Joan Acchione and Ann Simiele, as well as beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
