Jane C. Ostroski, of Liverpool, passed away on April 8th, 2026 at Francis House in Syracuse, at the age of 94.
Born on November 24, 1931, in Scranton, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Antonina Kielar, Jane graduated from West Scranton High School. In 1950 she married Bill, and in the same year they moved to Syracuse, New York where she worked at Prestolite for many years.
Jane was a lover of pretty things, plants, reading the newspaper, housecoats, babies of all kinds, and her family. She had an inexplicable green thumb and always took the time to appreciate a good flower. She had a special love for foxes, which she sprinkled throughout the decor in her home. She and her husband, Bill, enjoyed traveling throughout the United States to visit their sprawling extended family, but Jane especially loved to spend time by the ocean in Cape Cod. Jane loved her family by fussing at and over them, feeding them, and sending them home from her house with coupons and the occasional TastyKake. She was a faithful reader of the newspaper and a surprising repository of facts. She was a great feeder of people, and was perhaps most satisfied when you accepted the bread that she offered you multiple times throughout a meal.
Jane is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Ostroski Sr., to whom she was married for 63 years.
She is survived by her three children, Deborah Ostroski, William (Wendy) Ostroski Jr., and Jeffrey (Susan) Ostroski, and her brother Michael Kielar (Marilyn). She is also survived by five grandchildren, Kristi (Brian Sobolewski) Fazio, Jennifer (Matthew) Zmaczynski, Carly (Brian) Hand, Kate (Kody) Konig, and Emily (Trent) Lampinen; as well as 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jane’s life at a memorial service on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church, 3690 Armstrong Rd. in Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jane’s memory to Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church, PO Box 318, Syracuse, NY 13209 or Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, New York 13208.
