Janet I. Almy Johnson, 80, of Pennellville, New York, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, New York.
She was born on October 1, 1945, in Syracuse, New York, to the late Raymond Franklin Almy and Winifred M. French Almy.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Tracy Disotelle.
Janet is survived by her loving children: Grant (Sandi) Johnson of Pennellville, New York; Jill Cowan of Pennellville, New York; Marie (Shawn) Soper of Camillus, New York; Linda Johnson of Syracuse, New York; and Shirley Johnson of Pennellville, New York. She is also survived by her sister, Linda (Roland) Daily of Portland, Oregon, along with several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
Janet’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and family. She cherished every opportunity to be with those she loved.
She enjoyed relaxing at home, watching her favorite television programs and working on her circle-a-word puzzle books, and she had a special fondness for Scooby-Doo, a character that always brought a smile to her face.
Janet will be remembered for her love of family, her caring heart, her strength through life’s challenges, and the many memories she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 5 to 7 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St N. Syracuse, NY 13212.
In keeping with Janet’s wishes, she will be cremated, and her ashes will remain with her family.
