Joan M. Murray Andrews, 88, of Liverpool, NY, passed away on October 1, 2025, after a brief illness.
Joan was born in Syracuse on June 1, 1937, to Marjorie & George Murray. She spent most of her life in the Syracuse area with frequent visits to the Jersey Shore.
She put herself through college & earned an Associate's Degree to help provide a good home for her family. She retired from Upstate Medical Center after 27 years as a Psychiatric Therapist. She then enjoyed working for AAA Travel for a few years. After retirement, she enjoyed world travel, the Southwest, Florida, and mostly Cape May, NJ. She never missed a summer in Cape May, where she would read on the beach for hours! Joan was an Army wife & mother and a very patriotic citizen.
She loved to visit any casino, was a die-hard coƯee drinker, & a chocolate lover. She loved Billy Graham, the Gaithers Gospel Hour, & Syracuse University Sports, having followed the teams to championship games around the country.
Her true love was the family she adored, especially her grandchildren and family celebrations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Andrews, Sr.; daughter, Carla T. Kendrick; son, Harry J. Andrews, Jr.; her grandson-in-law, Kevin Haynes; and siblings, George Murray, Linda Fish, and Nancy Soucy.
Joan is survived by her son, Timothy (Yvonne Wheeler) Warner; daughter, Cara (Peter) Maloney; son, Sean (Sandra) Andrews; son-in-law, Matthew Kendrick; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Andrews; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Family & friends may call at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St, North Syracuse, NY, on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm for services. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery immediately following at 1 pm.
