John J. Bisnett Sr.

John J. Bisnett Sr., a beloved figure to many, passed away on March 7, 2026, in Liverpool, New York, following a courageous battle with dementia. Born in Syracuse, New York, on March 4, 1948, he lived a life filled with passion.

John proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1968. His life thereafter was characterized by his unwavering support for his family and friends, with whom he shared many cherished memories.

An avid sports enthusiast, John was a dedicated fan of the Buffalo Bills and Syracuse University sports, as well as the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Boston Red Socks. Outside of sports, John cultivated a passion for fishing and music.

John leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Gladys Bisnett; children, Barbara Bisnett, John (Vickie) Bisnett Jr., Cathy Bisnett, Janet Bisnett, Roseann Bisnett, and Joseph Bisnett; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lila Makuch.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to Dementia Research or Veterans Organizations.

John J. Bisnett Sr. will be remembered for all of the joy he brought to those around him. Although the world will be dimmer without his light, his legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
