John “Jack” Hamlin, 74, a lifelong resident of Liverpool NY passed away unexpectedly on Friday January 30, 2026 at his home. Jack was born in Syracuse NY on July 25, 1951.
A generous and loving man, he was a great listener and took great joy in fishing and hunting in his younger years. An accomplished bowler with seven 300 games and many other high scores to his credit, bowling was a passion of his from his teenage years. Jack was also a huge New York Yankees fan.
A hard worker all his life, Jack began working on a local farm at the age of 12, became a Certified Public Accountant after graduating from Le Moyne College in 1973, ran a fishing charter business for several years and was an owner of Flamingo Bowl in Liverpool for more than 20 years.
Most importantly, Jack was a strong Christian believer who loved spending time with his family and friends, and could strike up a friendly conversation with just about anyone.
Jack was predeceased by his father Walter Hamlin, his mother Eleanor Reith Hamlin, and his sisters-in-law Claudia Hamlin, Shannon Gennuso and Lori “Chai” Willson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Jo (Gennuso) Hamlin, daughter Sarah Del Hamlin, son Walter “Tony" (Kristyna) Hamlin, brother the Rev'd Canon Dr. W. Richard Hamlin, stepbrother Kevin (Melanie) Duke, sister-in-law Renee (Ronald) Bowen, and three nieces Eleanor, Margaret and Arwyn.
