Joseph F. Overend Jr.

Joseph Francis Overend, Jr, 90, of North Syracuse, passed away on Wednesday October 7, 2026. Joseph was born in Syracuse, New York on April 14, 1936 son of Joseph and Ruth Overend. Joseph was employed for several years at Onondaga Optical as a Lens Grinder and Eyewear Assembler. He was also employed at St. Joseph's Hospital in the Maintenance Dept.

He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Ann Overend, his parents Joseph and Ruth, two sisters, Delores Westcott, Joan Peoke; two brothers, Robert Overend and Donald Overend.

He is survived by his, son, Joseph Overend, III and his wife Patty Walker, a grandchild, Joseph Overend, IV; great-grandchild, Joseph Overend, V; four brothers, William Overend, John Overend, Charles (Lorraine) Overend, Roger (Dora) Overend; two sisters, Ruth Overend, Donna (Jeffrey) Magno, along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 13, 2026 from 10-12noon at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Services will follow noon at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Assumption Cemetery.
