Kathleen "Kathy" Raney

Kathleen “Kathy” Raney passed away on August 18, 2026, at the age of 57. Born on May 10, 1969, Kathy will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, a devoted daughter and sister, and a person whose warmth and humor left a lasting impression on those around her.

Kathy graduated from Cicero North Syracuse High School. She was an open person who could talk about anything, and she had a special gift for making light of any situation. She was deeply proud of her children and spoke of them often. Her happiest moments were found in being present for the people she loved most, and anything her children and grandchildren were involved in, Kathy was there with them.

She also found joy in the things that reflected her lively spirit. Kathy was a huge music lover, especially of rock, and was a devoted fan of Ozzy and Metallica. She loved plants and caring for her small garden. She had a special love for animals, especially her four cats, Harley, Gypsy, Cloe, and Dusty. She was also someone others could count on, and whenever anyone needed a ride, Kathy was always there.

Kathy is survived by her sons, Shawn, Mark, Brandon, and Tyler Washer, and by Tyler’s wife, Alex. She also leaves behind her father, David (Patty) Hamilton; her sisters, Jennifer Gosson and Stephanie Hamilton; and her granddaughters, Emily Balcom, Sophia Washer, and Lexi Washer. Kathy is also survived by her former spouse, Brian Washer. She will be remembered with love by her family, who knew her as a constant source of pride, presence, laughter, and support.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Hamilton, and her brother, Matthew Hamilton.

Visitation will be held on September 11, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N Main St, Syracuse, NY 13212.

Kathy’s memory will live on in the lives of her family and in the many everyday kindnesses for which she was known. Her love for her children and grandchildren, her humor, her loyalty, and her generous heart will not be forgotten.
