Kenneth W. Jackson, a beloved, father, and friend, graced this world with his laughter and warmth from May 28, 1938, until his departure on August 24, 2025. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Kenneth was the youngest of four children and spent his early years cultivated in a family that valued creativity and connection. He graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1956 and pursued further education at Toledo University for two years, embarking on a journey that would lead him through many remarkable chapters of life.
After enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1958 and serving as a proud Vietnam Veteran, Kenneth transitioned into civilian life, where he made significant contributions to his community. His professional journey included valuable roles at the Syracuse Planning Agency, a brief tenure as a Bank Teller Manager Trainee, and a long-standing commitment to the U.S. Small Business Administration until his retirement in 1995.
Kenneth was warmly remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for his zest for life. He had an enchanting presence, often found behind the camera, capturing life’s precious moments with an eye for detail and artistry. His painting talents led him to a remarkable highlight when one of his works was displayed in Governor Miller of Alaska’s mansion, and he held a one-man art show at the iconic Captain Hook Hotel in Anchorage, Alaska, in 1968. His indistinguishable dance moves were legendary among friends and family, characterized by a unique rhythm that mirrored the joyful spirit he imbued in every aspect of his life.
His hobbies reflected a vibrant personality: he thrived in activities such as painting, photography, and indulging in his passion for the world of gaming with Fallout. Each year, he eagerly anticipated his annual fishing trip with the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity—a cherished ritual that encapsulated his love for camaraderie and adventure.
Kenneth's heart was vast, filled with love for his family and friends. He cherished 61 ½ years of marriage with his devoted wife, Gloria Jackson, who stood by his side through all of life’s moments. He leaves behind his loving sons, Kenneth W. Jackson and Christopher A. Jackson; his cherished daughter, Kimberly Jackson; and his dear sisters, Charlotte O. Jackson and Jeanette L. Smith, alongside many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry his memory forward.
Though his parents, William W. and Helen C. Jackson, his daughter, Mercedes D. Jackson, his brother, William W. Jackson, Jr., and his playful feline companion, H.R. Thaddeus Mischief, have awaited him in peace, the legacy of joy he cultivated remains rooted deeply within the hearts of those he loved.
A visitation for Kenneth is scheduled for September 6, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 5:00 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, located at 705 N Main St, Syracuse, NY 13212. Kenneth W. Jackson will be remembered always—not merely for the dates that mark his existence, but for the vivid strokes of love, laughter, and creativity he painted across the lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers donations in Kenneth's name may be made to Kappa’s Scholarship Fund, The Kidney Foundation, or The Red Cross.
