Kevin James Reilly

Kevin James Reilly, former Sgt. of the United States Marine Corps and a former Syracuse Police Road Patrol Officer, passed away on September 21, 2026, while wandering the streets of Syracuse.

Kevin was predeceased by his parents, James Anthony Reilly and Margaret McStephaney, and his sister, Maureen “Moe” Wagner.

He is survived by his brother, Brian H. Reilly of Liverpool, and his sisters, Kathy Brown of Kirkville, NY; Sheila Anne Johnson of Mexico, NY; and Babe “Bob” Campbell of Syracuse, NY.

Kevin had a love for travel and adventure. He enjoyed trips to China and Hawaii, as well as visits to Chinatown in New York City. Closer to home, he was a familiar face at Chinese restaurants throughout the Syracuse area. Among his favorites were Ling Ling Buffet, Empire Buffet, Flaming Grill, and Family Buffet. He especially enjoyed the scallion and sausage pancakes and the soup-filled dumplings from Mr. Noodle and Miss Dumpling.

Kevin was also particular about his vehicles. He purchased them through Cago Auto Group, where he had them serviced by, in his estimation, the number-one auto mechanic of all time, Zheng Da Ding.

When he wasn't enjoying a great meal or traveling, Kevin could often be found on patrol with his crime-fighting German Shepherd, Turbo. Turbo was known for being friendly to everyone—except, of course, the troublemakers. Kevin also considered himself fortunate to have another law-enforcement buddy in Syracuse's own top cop and crime fighter, Frank Sardino.
