LaRue Deborah “Dee” Heaney, 72.

This Earth is diminished with the absence of the gentle and sensitive presence of LaRue.

Born in Syracuse on March 18, 1954 to LaRue M. (Breitenstein) and James V. Heaney. LaRue graduated from Saint Anthony of Padua with a Regents diploma before embarking on a 26 year career at Community Hospital in data processing. A woman of deep intellect and varied interests, LaRue never ceased her quest for learning. Striving for self-improvement and intellectual challenge, she then returned to further her education in electronic technology courses at OCM BOCES, in which she excelled. LaRue brought her newly attained expertise to United Radio, creating and repairing electronic panels, among other duties.

LaRue was a child of the fifties, coming of age in the sixties, which proved both a challenge and an opportunity to experience a fast-changing world.

LaRue availed herself of many facets of the culture around her; theater, music, and ballet as well as radio and television programming, and always, books. She was an avid reader with diverse and varied interests, who loved the feel and the scent of a book in her hand. She valued and frequented public libraries, whilst amassing her own collection of culturally relevant magazines and novels of wide ranging subject matter.

Among her diverse talents, LaRue was a gifted piano player and artist. Her love for art is evident in her drawings. She also adored all types of music and along with relishing live performances, she obtained a vast collection of media from Blues to Pop that she could enjoy at home.

LaRue held dear some of the most beautiful yet simple pleasures that life affords; observing the natural world around her, sipping tea amongst the comforts of home, challenging her mind with puzzles and mechanical matters and always…reading.

LaRue donated to many social causes that stirred her consciousness, both local and worldwide, as evidenced by the many thanks received for her generous support. And as she wished peace and serenity to the world, so also do we wish Debbie everlasting peace and serenity.

LaRue was predeceased by her parents, James V and LaRue M, also brother James V III and sister Elizabeth A Heaney.

Siblings Dr. Steven J Heaney, Bruce P (Debbie) Heaney, Susan M Heaney, Mary M Heaney, Dr. Alan (Brooke) Heaney and David M (Holly) Heaney invite friends and family to attend an hour for calling from 4pm to 5pm on August 1st at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse, NY 13212 with remembrances afterward.
