Listen to Obituary

Linda Panarites, born on September 16, 1946, in Burlington, Vermont, went to be with the Lord Saturday evening with her son Dennis at her bedside, leaving behind a life marked by love, strength, loss, family, faith, and dignity.

For many years Linda worked in the cafeteria located in the old phone company building on Washington St. as a cashier, where she would day in and day out spread the joy of her presence with those beautiful blue eyes and gorgeous smile, turning the misery of a day’s work for many into a pleasant and caring moment of relaxation while they were in her line.

Linda enjoyed many hobbies, like dancing to the jitterbug and Chubby Checker’s the Twist, doing puzzles, and her daily readings, and it was common practice for her to be known as “The Mayor” wherever she went.

Linda was a valued and loved member of Lakeshore Baptist Church for many years. She volunteered at VBS (Vacation Bible School) and participated in many Halloween events at the church for many years.

To those who knew her best, she was “The People’s Grandmother.” Linda had a way of bringing people together. Linda was a rare gem to those who had the chance to love her and be loved by her.

And her memory deserves to be carried with honor.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis J. Lancette, Dennis’ father; her late husband James J. Panarites; and her two sons Thomas R. Lancette and David W. Lancette.

Linda is survived by her son, Dennis J. Lancette, of Cicero, NY; her granddaughter, Denise R. Lancette, and her fiancé, Ryan McDonald, of Pennellville, NY; her great-granddaughter, Gabriella McDonald, also of Pennellville, NY; her brothers, Joey Landers and his wife, Joanne Landers, of Bushnell, FL; Robert Landers of East Syracuse, NY; and Donald Landers of Marcellus, NY; her sister, Rosie Caitlyn, of Lexington, NC; her newest close friend, adopted son in heart, and caregiver, Austin Johnson, of Rome, NY; several nieces and nephews; and her loving dog Coco of over 12 years.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Linda on June 19, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lakeshore Baptist Church, located at 6696 Lakeshore Road, Cicero, NY 13039.
