Loren E. Durst

Loren E. Durst, 71, passed away on April 8, 2026, in Mattydale, NY. He was born on March 11, 1955, in Canastota, NY to Jonnie and Ruth Leggett Durst.

Loren served honorably in the United States Army from 1975 -1981. Following his military service, he contributed many years to James Square Nursing Home as a maintenance technician. After retirement, Loren continued employment at Home Depot.

Outside of his professional life, Loren was an avid sports fan, particularly of the New York Yankees, New York Giants and Syracuse Orange. He was also a passionate outdoorsman in his earlier years, enjoying hunting and fishing. Above all, Loren treasured spending quality time with his family, especially being a loving "Poppy" to his grandchildren whom he loved more than life itself.

Loren is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Marie Durst; their children, Jessica (Justin) Allman and Bryan Durst; his adored grandchildren, Garrett and Tessa Allman; siblings, Bertha Winnie, Toni (Bunt) Stevens, Mickey Durst, and Mark Durst; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Loren was preceded in death by his father, Jonnie Durst.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 4 - 5:45PM, with a service immediately following, all at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, North Syracuse. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Loren's memory to Hematology Oncology Associations of CNY.
