Maria Collins

Maria Collins 61 of Hollyhill, Florida formally of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026. She was born in Syracuse on May 25, 1965 to the late Sam and Celia Oppedisano.

Maria worked as a phlebotomist for Lab Alliance, Centrex and St. Joe’s Hospital. After moving to Florida, she continued her career as a phlebotomist. She loved fishing and boating with her husband Rob. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved dogs, Thor and Lacey. Maria loved the simple things in life; being with family & friends, sharing a laugh & reminiscing. She had a way of lighting up every room she walked into. She always had a beautiful smile and a warmth about her that made people feel happy just by being around her. Her smile was contagious and she had a gift for making people feel loved and welcomed. 

After the passing of her husband, Rob, Maria returned to Syracuse to be closer to family and friends, she was fortunate enough to spend her final days surrounded by the people who loved her most, sharing many laughs and memories together.

She is survived by her siblings, Nicholas (Marilyn) Oppedisano and Samuel (Sharon) Oppedisano; sister-in-law, Amelia Nigro-Oppedisano, nieces; Gina (Peter) Michelin, Andrea Oppedisano, Nicole (Michael) Comer; nephews; Paul (Lisa) Oppedisano and Nicholas (Molly) Oppedisano, several great-nieces and nephews, cousins and step-daughter Lonnie (Porfirio) Laboy and their son, Alex.

Maria is predeceased by her husband, Robert Collins and brother, Joseph Oppedisano.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals on Monday, August 24,2026 from 3-4 pm with services to follow at 4pm.
