Marian E. Norton (Gargiul)

Marian E. Norton (Gargiul), 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her close friends on September 24, 2025. Born in Auburn, Marian earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Business Education from State University of New York at Albany and a Master's Degree in Education from Syracuse University. For 33 years, she was a dedicated business teacher with the North Syracuse Central School District at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. She was a dynamic and compassionate educator, beloved by her many colleagues. She embraced life, enjoyed travel, gardening, cooking, entertaining, and even rollerblading. She was known for her steadfast loyalty and incredible generosity, always extending herself to help others.

Marian was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Donald G. Norton, and her parents, James and Consetta (Pettigrass) Gargiul of Auburn.

She is survived by her great-nephew, Christopher Baran, with whom she shared a special bond; along with nephews, David Clark (wife Sara) of Raleigh, NC, Frederick Clark III of Auburn, Patrick Gargiul of Auburn; and close friends, Marcelo, Alex, and Johnny Mango and Linda Dwyer who oversaw her care in later years.

Services will be held privately. From those wishing to honor her memory, the family suggests considering a donation to North Syracuse Dollars for Scholars.
