Marilyn J. George

September 10, 1939 — May 6, 2025

Marilyn J. (Dunn) George, of Liverpool (formerly of Little Falls, NY) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

Marilyn dedicated her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

Marilyn was born in Herkimer, NY, and raised in Little Falls. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and Utica School of Commerce. She worked as a medical secretary in the offices of Drs. Burke, Conrad and Vickers for many years. She later worked for over a decade as an Administrative Assistant in the Admissions Office of Herkimer County Community College, before joining her husband John in retirement in 2001.

Family was everything to Marilyn, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She never missed a sporting event or dance competition and was their “number one fan.” She had a thoughtful, understanding, and benevolent demeanor that was undeniable to all she met. She was inquisitive, witty and selfless. Marilyn was a gentle light with unwavering kindness and quiet strength, our angel on earth.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, William and Genevieve (Drabent) Dunn, her brothers William and Edward, her sister Deanna, and this past fall, her husband of 62 years, John.

She is cherished in memory by her loving daughter, Rebecca Zimmerman (Robert Silfer), two grandchildren, Daniel (Shauna) Zimmerman and Erica (Mark) Bachman; sister Judith Helmer; sisters-in-law Carol Dunn and Mary Alice Rieman, brothers-in-law Robert (Kathlyn) and Ronald; and several generations of nieces and nephews.

At the request of the family, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marilyn’s memory to the Little Falls Public Library. Marilyn’s family would like to thank everyone at Nascentia Health for the wonderful care she received over the past few years, most especially, Virginia Cronin.
